Conscience


One gnaws at his nails
the other at his sleep -
neither notices the wounds;
amidst the people it lies
that the conscience shall be observed,
admired in its perfection;
regarded for its colors and olfactory pleasures;
it cleanses the gashes in dirty waters;
locks up shards and shells in blood-soaked tunnels.
Until the minefield grows into a tapestry of unseeing.
Until you switch on the light and explode.
