Playing dirty
Sandakan was a city.
Yin didn’t really know what else he could say about his destination. He had seen and worked and killed in more cities than he could count and if one looked past the shiny skylines most places tended to look the same.
Dirty.
Sandakan’s harbor wasn’t any different, especially not the pitch black warehouse Yin was about to infiltrate.
He scanned the building’s outer wall but there were no signs of any alarm systems. Local mafia obviously didn’t care what their foreign mercenary did in his spare time.
But Yin cared. Maybe more than he was ready to admit.
He kicked the door open and strode in – there was no need for any stealthy behavior if his informant was right.
The moment he set foot inside he knew he was too late. The smell of blood overwhelmed him; flies were buzzing around and about a dozen bodies lay strewn across the floor, some of them without heads, guts spilled everywhere.
Yin braced himself and walked up to the field of carnage.
Where was he, where was he, what was he thinking coming here alone that stupid idiot, big walking disaster…
There!
Yin spotted the tall figure half buried beneath another corpse. He crouched down, pushing the body off his friend and turned him around.
Gunnar’s eyes were closed, half his face covered in dark red blood, mouth having gone slack. The fire had ruined his clothes and his shoes were gone, exposing his bare bloody feet.
Yin gulped, hesitantly reaching out to touch Gunnar’s forehead. He was ice cold. It was too dark in here to see whether he was still breathing but when he took his hand, Yin couldn’t feel a pulse.
God, no. Please, please no.
Yin clenched his fist. “Wake up”, he told him. “Wake up or I’m going to kick your ass.”
Gunnar didn’t move.
“No jokes. I will punch you.”
Still no move.
He let his fist come down with crushing force onto Gunnar’s broad chest, crying out in anger and pain.
“Come on, you stupid idiot!”
He beat him thoroughly, but no matter what insults he threw at him, Gunnar wouldn’t wake up and after some moments, Yin felt as if all of his strength was being sucked out of him. He cried out, hanging his head and trying to suppress the ugly sob that clawed on his throat.
Suddenly, a dry cough resounded throughout the warehouse, causing Yin to let out a high pitched shriek.
“Gunnar?!”
“Hi…”
Gunnar opened his eyes and blinked a few times as if he couldn’t figure out where he was. His voice sounded so tiny and broken, scaring Yin right to his very bones.
“It’s nice to see you”, Gunnar said. “Didn’t think you would come.”
“Why the fuck did you come here?” Yin knew that it was probably the stupidest question he could have asked but he was still too baffled at the mere sight of Gunnar not being dead.
Gunnar smiled brightly. “They would have killed you, Little Longnose”, he explained. “Mister Kan put a bounty on your head.”
“But… why alone? You could have told me!”
“And lead you right into their arms? I am not dumb, you know.”
Yin looked incredulously into Gunnar’s eyes. He didn’t know what to say.
“It was a bit unfortunate that all those guys were close-combat though”, Gunnar carried on, smile still in place. “Gave me a hard time. That's why I look like shit ”
“Why are you not dead?” he finally blurted out.
Gunnar looked at him with a much more serious expression in his eyes.”I think I was. For half an hour or so? I even saw a light. Then you punched me.”
“What?!” Yin couldn’t believe his eyes.
“You know, next time, try kissing me first, alright?” Gunnar actually smirked. Beaten up, bloody, all his bones broken and still the guy was smirking up at Yin!
“Oh shut up!” Yin scowled, avoiding Gunnar’s look which caused his friend to laugh even louder. “You are crazy! Come on. We have to get out of here… stop laughing! You are dead! You are supposed to be dead! God, why do I even bother with you…”
He put Gunnar’s arm around his neck and pulled him up. Gunnar groaned but he tried to help as best as he could. They took some tentative steps together – Yin could barely keep him upright, but it worked nonetheless. Gunnar sighed.
“Yin?” he asked quietly.
“What?!” Yin panted.
“Thanks. For bringing me back. Kiss or no kiss.”
“Shut your face!”

Egal. Epic shit right there. =D

Date: 2012-10-01 05:28 pm (UTC)Und awwwww, Gunnar IST bezaubernd.
