Oh well, a well
The rockslide came down quickly and it came down hard, leaving the team to hastily climb the upper parts of the trees, cursing and shouting over the noise.
After the last of dust and debris had settled, Ross called out to the others. He couldn’t see them, though they weren’t equipped with coms for nothing.
“Anyone still alive?”
“Yeah” someone answered, static blurring the words so Ross didn’t know at first who was talking. “I lost my book though. Damn. Nearly finished it...” Toll.
“I climbed a tree.” Gunnar.
“I climbed Gunnar. He’s taller anyway.” Yin.
“For God’s sake, you guys are worse than Barney and Lee. Get a damn room!” Hale.
Ross nodded. He adjusted the frequency, calling for the other two members of his team.
“Lee? Kid? You okay?”
“I’m fucking wonderful, Ross”, cursed Lee. His voice was barely audible. “I’m stuck sixty feet below ground and my only way of escape got clogged up by even more ground. Secret passage through the well is a friggin’ death trap!”
Ross rolled his eyes. “Next time, I’ll leave you at home so you can pester other people” he said but he was worried nonetheless. Why wasn’t Billy answering? “Tell me. Any options?”
“Next time, I’ll hack your feet off and feed them to you before you talk me into bullshit like this again!” Lee answered. “Can’t see my own damn hand, down here...” He heard him curse and groan and then a splash followed by even more cursing. “Water is rising too. Don’t even know how that’s possible...”
“Lee”, Ross urged him. “Where is the kid?”
Lee fell silent, making Ross grip the branch he was sitting on even harder.
“We...got separated” Lee finally admitted. Ross took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. “He was setting up the traps to cover our retreat...”
“I’m roping down”, Ross interrupted him, already halfway down the tree before his brain caught up with his mouth. He ordered for Hale and Toll to follow him.
“Don’t be dumb!” Lee answered harshly. “There is no way for any of you to...”
“I’m not going to let him die!” Ross shouted angrily.
“Ross, you stubborn old man!” Lee actually sounded hurt. “Do you think, I would? I’m trying to find him, you idiot!”
Ross said nothing – mostly because he was slightly embarrassed of his hot-headedness. He should have known better but the thought of Billy being buried alive somewhere beneath his feet with no way of reaching him fast enough made him sick.
“Yeah alright”, he mumbled as he crossed the muddy stream and finally arrived at the well – or where it should have been. All they could see now was a pile of debris and the peak of the moldy scaffolding once attached to the well.
“Hu” Hale and Toll had arrived, and Hale was staring disbelievingly at the sad remnants in front of them. “It caved in completely.”
“Oh really? How could I have missed that, I simply thought I had taken the wrong only exit!” Lee yelled through the com. Hale just smiled probably because he imagined the exasperated look Lee always got, when something like this happened.
Ross cursed under his breath, as he tried to reach Billy again but static was the only answer he got.
“We could try to reach them through the asylum” Toll mused. “The east wing’s passage should still be accessible...”
“Uh, well no”, Gunnar chirped through the com. “Remember how we had the building explode? To kill off the henchmen up there and cover up our tracks? The east wing is destroyed.”
“Remind me again why we thought this was a good plan?” Toll mumbled rolling his eyes.
“Because the plan was for Lee and the kid to be out of the tunnel by the time Gunnar went berserk”, Ross explained ignoring the indignant look Toll gave him.
For a while no one said anything until Lee asked the inevitable.
“So... what’s the plan?”
Ross took a deep breath. “We need to get you out of there...”
“Well thanks Captain Obvious!” Lee sneered.
“Shut your mouth, I’m trying to think here!”
“Don’t strain yourself.”
Despite everything Ross had to smile – Lee knew exactly how to push all his buttons in the right moments. He swallowed, trying to come up with a possible solution for this mess. Usually he could improvise easily, but right now the fear for Billy’s life paralyzed him.
“Barney” Lee said quietly as if he had read his mind. “He is gonna be alright.”
“Course he is” Ross answered – then he nodded to himself.
“Gunnar” he barked into the com. “Get your ass down here. We need to burst another access to the tunnel.”
“I’m on it”, Gunnar answered and Ross could hear the eager smile on his face.
“Lee. Get as far away from the entry as you can, we don’t have much time.”
“If you accidentally drop tons of earth on me, I am going to snap your neck”, Lee said.
“Yeah, will keep that in mind. Oh, and Lee?”
“God, Barney. Shut up. Of course I’m gonna find him. It will be just fine.”
Ross said nothing. Lee would know how relieved he was, anyway.
“Come on, people, move it!” he shouted instead, praying to all the deities he didn’t believe in that it wasn’t too late for Billy.
When Billy finally woke up, he was sure he had turned blind.
Pitch-black darkness surrounded him. He touched his own hands to make sure he hadn’t lost any fingers but other than his arms he couldn’t feel his body at all. A horrifying thought crossed his mind – had he lost his legs and was bleeding to death right now? Frantically he stroked his arms, his chest and finally his hips and thighs. He was relieved though the feeling didn’t last. The fact that his legs were still attached to his body didn’t mean they were still working.
Breathing became harder with every second, as if something heavy was constantly crushing his chest.
He fumbled for his com, touching something warm and wet on his face – blood?
God, this wasn’t good.
The shock washed over him, causing his hand to still.
He had trouble remembering how exactly he had ended up here in the darkness, thoughts scrambling around in his brain, pain obscuring his thinking.
He recalled Lee’s angry voice, shouting at him to move faster – and then nothing until waking up to the feeling of having been run over by a truck.
Billy shuddered. The moment Ross had decided that Billy and Lee would have to take the secret passage through the well Lee had been murmuring insults and curses mostly directed at Ross. Billy had decided to ignore it and do his job as best and fast as possible but he couldn’t quite shake the queasy feeling that the slightest mistake would cause Lee to be up against his throat, one of the always present knives at his neck.
Everyone on the team he could get along with, even Yin respected him now. However it seemed completely impossible for Billy to become friends with Lee. Whatever he did, whatever he said, Lee was always giving him these cold and calculating looks – and Billy was too competitive not to try and prove his worth, especially to him.
Maybe it had something to do with his admiration for Ross, Billy thought. Ross would go through fire and water for Lee and Billy would do the same for Ross...If Lee could just see that...
A frantic laugh escaped his throat, almost splitting his chest in half. Here he was, buried alive in an ice-cold, black tunnel and all his thoughts focused on a teammate who wasn’t holding him in high regards. He definitely needed to set his priorities straight.
“Can anyone here me?” he called, starting to cough not a second later. “Ross? Sir?” He took a deep breath, before he shouted. “Lee? Are you there?”
When his voice drifted aimlessly through the darkness, the feeling of disorientation overwhelmed him. There was no way he could figure out where he was exactly – so how would the team be able to locate him? Would Lee even care to find him?
They had probably left already, Billy thought, trying not to panic. The client had made it very clear that the slightest delay would cause immense trouble for the team and of course Ross’ responsibility lay with his men’s wellbeing first and foremost.
If the greenhorn couldn’t keep up, tough luck. They owed him nothing.
His breathing became erratic, fear clenching his heart and chest.
He attempted all the strategies they had taught him in the army, ways of avoiding panic attacks – it didn’t work.
“Fuck”, Billy cursed, desperately trying to hold back the tears that stung at his eyes. “Fuck.”
He didn’t have time for this. He had to do something.
Slowly he stretched his hand out to his legs. He braced himself, closing his eyes although it didn’t make any difference.
He began to pull as his thigh.
He screamed as the pain shot through his body, blood suddenly in his mouth.
“How is it going down here, Santa?”
“Less stupid, more explosions, Gunnar!”
Lee rolled his eyes. What were those idiots doing? It wasn’t exactly Palm Springs down here, as he waded through ice cold water, barely able to see anything – his mobile phone being the only light source.
“Lee. You got anything?” Ross asked suddenly.
“Well, yeah. I found the boy twenty minutes ago I just decided not to tell you!” Lee shouted back. “Will you leave me be, you fretting momma bear.”
“Shut your mouth, princess” Ross snapped back but he kept silent afterwards.
Lee shook his head. Ross was insufferable when he was worried – and his constant questions certainly didn’t make it any easier for Lee himself not to panic.
He sighed.
God damn, he had to find the kid.
Lee had seen countless people die before but the thought of stumbling over Billy’s cold body in this godforsaken place, was enough to make him want to spill his guts.
“God, kid, hang on” he murmured, crouching down to crawl through a small gap between two enormous rocks.
Admittedly, he had given the boy a hard time at first because he felt it was stupid of Ross to bring somebody as young as Billy in. Nobody with that much life still in front of him should resort to their line of work. That just wasn’t right.
But then he had experienced firsthand how Billy was willing to work his ass off for the team’s sake. He was loyal, quick witted and most important of all he worked wonders on Ross. Lee snorted – he couldn’t believe how stupid that sounded but he had felt that their lifestyle was finally taking its toll on Ross, shortly before Billy came around. It had hurt him to see his best friend wither away in front of him without any chance of helping him.
So when the kid came around and Ross started smiling and joking again, Lee had finally been able to come to terms with Billy.
Yeah, he was young and naïve even, stupid and inexperienced – but he was great with a gun and the most loyal man he had ever known.
Lee coughed, trying to rid his head of scary thoughts of death and pain.
He would d find him. He had to.
“Lee.”
“For God’s sake, Ross, I told you that...”
“It’s not that” Ross interrupted him impatiently. “We have a problem. Authorities are about to swarm the place. The chopper can’t land with that much attention around and as soon as we blow the place up, we’ll be under fire.”
“Shit” Lee said. “How much time do we have left?”
“About fifteen minutes.”
Lee swallowed, immediately picking up his pace and promptly hitting his head on a rock. He groaned.
“Lee” Ross continued and he sounded utterly devastated. “If you cannot find him by then, I have to get you out of there...”
“No!” Lee shouted without even thinking about it. “We are not going to leave that stupid kid down here! If you must, then go, take that chopper and leave me! I’ll find a way; I’ll bring him out of here, even if I have to dig a way out with my bare hands!”
“I’m not going to lose you too, Christmas” Ross answered darkly.
Lee gasped, his throat suddenly caught in an ugly sob.
“No” he just said. “Everything will be fine, I’m going to find him, there is still time...
“Lee” Ross murmured, and Lee tried not to shout over the fact that Ross sounded as if he was on the verge of tears. “There is no way...”
All of a sudden, an ear-shattering scream pierced the silence.
Lee almost dropped the com.
“Billy!”
He got up, ignoring the pain in his head and ignoring Ross’ barking voice. He ran through the water, sliding under rocks and columns and climbing like a madman.
The screaming subdued almost immediately and for a terrifying second, Lee assumed the worst, but then he heard a faint whimper, followed by string of barely audible curses.
“Billy!” he screamed again, and when he crawled through another crevice, he finally saw him.
Billy was lying on his back, his legs buried beneath a huge wooden beam. Lee coughed as he noticed the broken bone that had pierced through Billy’s thigh, looking even more ghastly in the ugly cold light of his phone.
“Ross. I have him. Go on, blow that fucking hole and don’t you dare killing us off”, he screamed into his com before he ran over to him, crouching down and trying to dig Billy out.
Billy screamed again, flinching away from the light and clawing at the air. His left eye was completely swollen, the right one covered in sticky blood, that flowed from a gashing wound in his head.
“Kid, it’s alright” Lee tried to calm him down. “It’s me, it’s fine...”
“Ross?” the boy whimpered, blinking against the blood on his face.
“No, it’s me, it’s Christmas” Lee answered.
“Christmas?” Billy stilled immediately. “You...I...I didn't think you would come back for me”, he whispered.
“Thanks for thinking to so highly of me!” Lee quipped, planting his feet on the ground and getting a tighter grip on the beam.
“I... sorry”, Billy said and he sounded genuinely surprised.
God, Lee thought, did the kid really think he hated him that much?
“Oh shut up, boy. I’m going to lift that thing, alright? Do you think you can crawl away?”
“Y-yes, Sir.”
Lee looked at him – Billy had a look of pure stubborn determination on his face. Amazing, that kid, truly amazing.
“Then on the count of three, Billy.”
Lee roared as he put all his strength into his arms. He heard Billy scream and for a moment he thought the boy couldn’t do it, but then the scream became words.
“I’m out, Sir!”
Lee tore his hands away. The beam crashed back onto the ground, dust and pebbles raining down on them.
He fell to his knees, patting Billy’s chest slightly so they wouldn’t overlook any injuries to his lungs.
“How you feeling, kiddo?” Lee asked
“Like rainbow and sunshine, Sir” Billy answered. Suddenly he took Lee’s forearm, holding it in a death grip. “Thank you” he breathed, focusing his one good eye on Lee.
“Billy” Lee said, but the harsh reply died on his lips. “We are a team” he answered softly instead. “We take care of each other. Understood?”
Billy stared at him, then he smiled. “Understood.”
Lee nodded. “It’s gonna be alright, you’ll see, they...”
A roaring boom deafened them both for a moment, Lee doing his best to cover Billy’s body without hurting him further and then suddenly, blinding light fell upon both of them.
“Billy! Lee!” Ross shouted from somewhere above him. “You alright?”
“Well, I would be, if you hadn’t tried to kill me just a second ago!” Lee answered heatedly, shielding his eyes against the light from above.
“I thought you would be further down the tunnel” Gunnar yelled. “And anyway, stop whining.”
Before Lee could answer that, he heard Billy laugh quietly – and despite all of it, he smiled too.
The next minutes went by in a blur. Hale and Ross roped down into the tunnel. Hale did something to Billy’s leg that left the boy looking even paler than before but at least his leg wouldn’t fall off, as Hale tied him to himself and climbed up again.
Ross offered Lee a hand and for a really awkward moment, Lee thought, he would kiss him.
But then Ross just mouthed a “thank you”, holding the rope out for him and together they climbed up and ran over to where the chopper had already landed.
As the first bullets were flying through the air, they took off, waving to the police and armed forces down on the ground.
Lee laughed and looked at Billy who was lying on the helicopter’s floor, Hale and Toll fussing over his broken leg and the gash in his head.
“You alright, Billy?” he asked and gave him an honest smile.
“Peachy” came the answer. “I think Christmas is becoming my favorite holiday.”
Lee groaned. “Seriously? I haul your ass out of that death trap and all I get is a name joke?”
“Sorry. It was meant as a compliment.”
“A stupid ass compliment, that’s what that was!”
“Oh for the love of God" Ross shouted from the front seat. “Will you shut the fuck up, both of you!”
Lee just ignored him, giving Billy a thumbs up and smiling down at the forests and lakes they were flying over.

Date: 2012-09-21 03:51 pm (UTC)Vielen lieben Dank fürs schreiben und kink befriedigen!! <3
*freu freu freu* ♥
Ross und pissed off!
“Hu” Hale and Toll had arrived, and Hale was staring disbelievingly at the sad remnants in front of them. “It caved in completely.”
“Oh really? How could I have missed that, I simply thought I had taken the wrong only exit!” Lee yelled through the com.
*__* *anfiep*
They had probably left already, Billy thought, trying not to panic. The client had made it very clear that the slightest delay would cause immense trouble for the team and of course Ross’ responsibility lay with his men’s wellbeing first and foremost.
If the greenhorn couldn’t keep up, tough luck. They owed him nothing.
Oh Billy ... Billy ... sag doch sowas nicht! Ross liebt dich doch! Die lieben dich doch alle! ;___;
Ach Baby....
*ihn flausch*
Was hast du ihm angetan? T__T
“I’m not going to lose you too, Christmas” Ross answered darkly.
Lee gasped, his throat suddenly caught in an ugly sob.
Make me cry, why don't you....
Zur äh "Belohnung" kriegst du jetzt gleich super schmoopiges One Two/Bob-H/C. *hust* XD

So so tolle Dialoge. *_*
“I’m not going to lose you too, Christmas”
Bwaaaah, ich könnte heulen. :(
Ernsthaft, ich brauch mehr Christmas-Liebe von dir. Und mehr Christmas und Billy. Und mehr Team. ♥
