der_jemand, deren Fics schuld sind, dass ich überhaupt wieder angefangen habe diese Serie zu gucken.
Anermkung: Das war als straighter oneshot gedacht. Aber dann kam alles anders.
Warnung: ...es wird obskur. Nein, wirklich. Arthur und Merlin im Weltall!!
“LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY!”
Arthur beamed. He positively glowed. Though that might have been the autumn-suns' doing.
“Look at it! Now, THIS is what I call a space-shuttle!”, he said while gently stroking said shuttle's titanium-alloyed exterior. All red and shiny, the Pendragon's sigil gleamed golden on its slightly phallic body.
“Uhm... sure, I guess so...”, Merlin shuffled his feet. Watching Arthur getting acquainted with his new toy made him feel slightly uncomfortable.
“Of course, you wouldn't know”, with a hissing noise the cock-pit opened up.
“No... she's pretty-”
“Pretty?”
“Mmh.. yes?”
“Pretty?!”, for a brief moment Arthur was able to tear his eyes off the control-panel in front of him.
“THIS is state-of-the-art space-crafting! THIS is... is...”, he licked his lips in search for words.
“So, maybe she's more than pretty”, Merlin admitted with a shrug.
Arthur didn't seem too satisfied with it.
“Alright”, he sight.
“You don't believe me. ..I show you!”
He pointed at the passenger-seat.
Merlin didn't really see why there should be anything especially special about the shuttle's upholstery, but he took a look anyway.
Something hit his head.
“Not the seat – idiot! Hop in already!”
With a foreboding feeling Merlin fastened his seatbelt. (What was the use of that anyway? If they were to crash, it was highly unlikely that a seatbelt would save them from freezing and suffocating and Certain Death.)
Not that he didn't trust Arthur's abilities as a pilot. He just couldn't see the fun (or sense) in racing through asteroid-fields.
“Here we go!”
Merlin took a deep breath. He closed his eyes. His fingernails dug deep into his thighs.
Being in space was one thing. Not his favourite thing, but... bearable.
Getting there, was another matter.
He gave a strangled half-scream as the shuttle pierced through the atmosphere, but was drowned out by Arthur's vocal (and, naturally, very manly) expression of his utmost delight.
And then they had left Camelot behind.
“See”, Arthur grinned triumphantly as he steered them past one of the smaller moons.
“You didn't even pass out this time.”
“Mhm”, Merlin answered, not quite daring to open his mouth yet.
He watched Arthur's hands dance among levers, switches and dials. Soft movements, graceful, gentle even. So very much unlike Arthur himself.
“So where do you wanna go?”
“What?”, Merlin looked up.
“Go. Where”, Arthur repeated.
“Dunno...”
There was a map on one screen right in front of Merlin. He glanced at it. Suns and Planets encircling each other, but never touching. When he looked out of the window he could see them as well, only bigger, and without the blue lines to indicate their orbit.
There – he didn't dislike space-travel in general. He just didn't see why you always had to go light-speed, when there was so much to see.
“Oh, come on, just pick one bloody planet.”
“Any planet?”
“Well, obviously we're not going to cross the universe.”
“Hmm...”
“And don't you dare pick Camelot. I'm not taking her home yet.”
“Alright, alright...”
With his index-finger Merlin stabbed at the map.
“There”, he said without looking.
“There?!”
From the sound of Arthur's voice, the prince wasn't too impressed.
“There's nothing but swamps. And swamps. And possibly mosquitoes. And swamps”
“Well you don't know that for sure if you've never been there, do you?”, Merlin retorted without thinking.
Arthur did have a point, but now it was too late to admit that. So, instead Merlin tried to make the least convincing “I know something you don't know”-face he could manage.
“Well..”, Arthur yawned.
“I guess... as you will be the one to clean her, once we're back home... If it is your deepest wish to visit a swamp-planet... that's fine by me.”

Arthur! IN SPACE! Und sogar mit Widmung! *flail*
