No Exit
264 kilometres above the ocean, Blast Off hovered in Earth’s orbit.
He knew the coordinates of the Nemesis. He knew the coordinates of the Ark. He was fully refuelled, armed with powerful lasers…
He activated his reaction control system, turning his wing into the Sun and enjoyed the frozen energon melting a little. He relaxed.
And Blast Off wondered. When Starscream had freed them from the Detention Center, had the seeker never thought that Blast Off might leave?
Starscream probably had thought of that, the shuttle muses, otherwise he wouldn’t have installed the gestalt program… Which was so far the only true reason for Blast Off not to go. Not to fly away and let them fight their stupid war without him.
If he had been in root-mode, Blast Off’s hands would have clenched to fists and his optics twitched with anger.
His team was the only reason he was still there. And still…
He could eliminate them all with one shot.
His lasers were powerful enough to cut through the ocean, reach the ground’s surface and the wreck of the Nemesis lying there. The heat would burn them, and if it wouldn’t kill them instantly, the warmth in energon lines would rise, causing the pressure to peak and they’d burst from the inside…
At that thought, his programing began to act up, causing an odd queasiness spreading along his frame and tank which made his processor dizzy for the fraction of an astrosecond.
It was annoying.
Blast Off rolled again, the Sun heating up his other wing now, as the surface of the planet changed beneath him.
He also could shot at the Ark.
The firepower of his lasers would be weakened because of the volcano above the Autobot HQ, but not particularly more than would the ocean. The lasers still would be strong enough…
Blast Off could put an end to this war. He knew it. He could should both, Decepticons and Autobots…
He’d be free.
No, he wouldn’t.
He knew he only had one shot. It was either Autobots or Decepticons. And this made him realise, he could decide which side would win this war. It was a good thought, reassuring, condescending - for only a few astroseconds.
No matter which side would win, he’d never be free.
If he shot the Decepticons, the Autobots would treat him like a prisoner of war. They would never let him go. They would never free him from glitching gestalt programming when he’d killed all of his team. Autobots were hypocritical idiots, and even so the Decepticons weren’t any better, at least they were honest.
And if the Decepticons won?
Megatron wouldn’t stop then. He wouldn’t allow the Combaticons to split up. He wouldn’t stop on Earth as he was always talking about ‘conquering the universe’.
What a stupid idea. That imbecile fool didn’t have the slightest idea what the dimensions of ‘universe’ really were. That neither ‘big’ nor ‘huge’ nor ‘giant’ would be an appropriate word for that what universe truly meant.
Blast Off’s alt-mode vents puffed a huff which sent him rolling again.
He didn’t stop the movement, spinning slowly, view changing from Earth’s surface to the Sun to the Moon to the endlessness what was space and back to Earth again.
Queasiness spread again, this time from his loyalty coding which forbid any disobedience to Megatron’s words…
No, Blast Off wouldn’t be able to shot the Decepticons. But he neither wanted them to win. And he realised, that he didn’t have any choice at all.
New lines of programing degrading him to a mere slave.
Blast Off was stuck in their war.

Date: 2011-07-20 07:27 pm (UTC)OMG yes, trapped between the loyalty programming, the gestalt programming and a good knowlegde of how the universe actually works, and how Megatron works. And his assessment of the Autobots - so accurate (IMO, anyway :P).
And awww, the queasiness when he thinks of destroying his team. That programming really isn't good for him.

Any of these programs isn't good for him. *lol* Poor shuttle. v.v But really, what would he do without Vortex? Or Onslaught? ;p It's only for his own good. ;)

Date: 2011-07-20 07:37 pm (UTC)lol, but yeah, I think he does need them. Especially Onslaught with the companionable silences, but also Vortex's very physical neediness :P Even if it's annoying, that has to be on some level gratifying.
