Now or Never

“First floor entrances and fire escapes blocked.” Bombay's voice doesn't sound panicked, it never does, but there are degrees of cool detachment and this one's a nine on the fuck-up-scale. Optimistically.

Yohji changes direction without missing a beat, running up the stairs again instead of down.

“Alternative exits?”

“Working on it,” comes the thight response and Yohji can tell that Omi's at it already, focus probably on the blueprints of the building.

Someone is coming down the stairs and Yohji's hand is halfway to his wire, when he recognizes a flash of red and black. “Abyssinian,” he says. “Up!”

There's a second of confusion that allows Yohji to catch up, then Aya's running up the stairs, only a few steps ahead of him. “Update”, he says over his shoulder.

“We're trapped. Bombay's working on an escape route.” The noises from down the stairs are getting louder and Yohji can see short flashes of movement about three flights down. “Your com?”

“Kick to the head. Got the target.” There's some dark satisfaction in Abyssinian's voice that Yohji doesn't like to contemplate. No time for that anyway as he can hear heavy footsteps coming down ahead of them as well as up from behind.

“Fourth floor?” he suggests unnecessarily as they reach that level.

It earns him a fleeting grim smile. “Sounds great.”

Abyssinian leads the way down a hall and into one of the rooms. It's an office with a kitten calendar and a potted plant, just the thing you expect in the lair of slave traders. Talk about the banality of evil. Aya locks the door and checks the windows while Yohji checks in with
Omi. “Balenese here. Abyssinian's with me.”

“I have your location.” Bombay's voice holds no emotion at all, which indicates ten on fuck-up.

“If there's an escape route, now would be perfect to tell us.” It's useless, if there was, Bombay would've told them already. Yohji's reply to the inevitable “Working on it.” is a selection of his more colorful curses. That's the good thing about being the one facing certain death: you don't have to be professional about it.

Except, of course, if you're Aya. He's staring out the window, his face the usual collected blankness. It's beautiful and fucked up and infuriating in a way only Aya can manage. There are noises outside the door. “I'll kiss you now,” Yohji informs him.

“Your timing's-” is all Aya gets out, before Yohji is next to him, pressing their lips together. There's something deeply satisfying in throwing Aya off guard. Not quite as satisfying as kissing him, but definitely adding to the appeal. Then Aya's kissing back, one leatherclad hand grasping the back of Yohji's head and for a moment that's all there is: a searing kiss that reconciles him with the imminent end of his broken throw away life for the moment. As last kisses go, it's the kind to wish for.

Then Aya ends the kiss by biting his lip, hard. “What-?”

“I'm not dying for your skewed priorities,” Aya informs me wryly, seconds before he throws a chair through the window. There's the clatter of the bursting glass and crashing sounds from the door and a splash from the chair hitting... the evil organisation's prestigious koi pond.

Yohji stares at Aya who allows himself the shadow of a smug half-smile.

“Found a way out,” he informs Omi and the relieved huff he hears is not detached at all.
Yohji grins at Aya who rolls his eyes. “You can kiss me later for it,” he says dead pan.

Then, they jump.

*SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*
*__*
Awwww, sie sind soooo toll.
Ich fühl mich ganz nostalgisch. WK. Yohji. Aya. Omi! Der sichere Tod vor der Tür. Action. Und ein letzter Kuss. *-*
Du bist evil genug, dass ich dir ne almost-death-fic zutraue, aber ich bin froh, dass du sie gerettet hast. ;)
Das war toll.
Me likes a lot!
