Sprache: Englisch“Just admit that you’re lost,” Nathan grumbled on the passenger’s seat.
“How can I be lost when we don’t really have any goal in mind?” Duke asked.
Nathan groaned. “You know what I mean.”
Duke laughed softly. “I think you’re just hungry. How about we stop in this little town, huh?”
Nathan looked outside and saw the town sign. “Stars Hollow? Never heard of it.”
“Doesn’t look like a big city. Almost like Haven, just without the sea around it,” Duke said as he was driving through the streets. “Let’s find a place to eat.” Just as he said it, he saw the perfect place. A grin formed on his lips. He parked at the side of the road. “How about there?”
Nathan followed Duke’s finger and grinned broadly. “You know how to lift my mood.” He jumped out immediately, didn’t even wait for Duke as he made his way over to “Al’s pancake world”. Maybe Duke was right and he was just hungry. He went inside and sat down, now waiting for Duke out of courtesy before he grabbed the menu.
Nathan skipped over the pages, turning page after page. “What’s this?” he asked and looked over to Duke. “Why are there no pancakes on that menu?”
Duke looked as confused as he was. “I have no idea. I really thought we could eat some pancakes.”
Nathan groaned, his bad mood returning.
Duke waved over the waitress. “Hey,” he said politely. “There are no pancakes on the menu. We’re a little confused.”
“Oh, you can’t eat pancakes here. Al specialises on foreign dishes.”
“I want pancakes,” Nathan mumbled. Duke had to suppress a grin. He looked like a little kid who didn’t get what he wanted.
“Is there any place in town where we could get pancakes?”
The waitress smiled and pointed to the other side of the road. “You can get some at Luke’s diner. Just on that corner. He serves coffee, pancakes, really good burgers, and a lot of other stuff.”
“Thank you for the suggestion.”
“No problem. Have a great time in Star Hollow,” the waitress said before she moved to the next table.
Duke took Nathan by the hand and walked out. He crossed the street to go over to Luke’s diner.
“A pancake place that doesn’t serve pancakes and a diner that says hardware store above his entrance. This town is really weird.”
“I bet they don’t have any gas leaks though,” Duke said with a soft smile and pulled him inside. There was a man with a baseball bat behind the counter who looked grumpily at them when they entered. “Very warm welcome,” he whispered into Nathan’s ear.
Nathan shrugged. “I don’t care as long as I get my pancakes.”
Duke shook his head. “You and your obsession with pancakes,” he said softly.
As soon as they had sat down, the man walked over to them. “Do you need a menu?”
Nathan shook his head. “I just want a coffee and pancakes.”
The man nodded and wrote it down on his notepad. “What can I get for you?” he asked Duke.
“I’ll get a burger and fries.”
“Coming right up,” he said and walked back behind the counter.
It didn’t take long until they got their food and Nathan seemed a little happier. Duke smiled softly as he watched Nathan.
“This town is really weird,” Nathan said again as he looked out of the window, watching the people on the street.
“Makes you feel like you’re home, huh?”
Nathan smiled softly. “A little bit, yeah. Good idea to stop here. Maybe we could take a stroll through town after lunch?”
Duke smiled softly. “I’d really like that.”
