“Come on, hurry up,“ Remus urged.
“Slow down, Remus, what’s wrong? Did something happen?” Tiberius asked.
“No, but we might miss it if we don’t hurry. Jamie said that they’re not sure how long they’ll be there. Or when we’ll get the chance to see it again.”
“See what?” Tiberius tried to get his friend to finally explain.
“You’ll see, we’re almost at the ridge.”
Tiberius sighed but fell silent, instead concentrating on making their way through the trees. It had been one of the biggest challenges after they’d joined Caledonian clan, learning to swiftly move among the trees instead of flying above them. At the Estate or even in London, they hadn’t had to worry about that, there was amble space, and the humans either knew about them or ignored them. The Caledonian clan, on the other hand, was far more invested in keeping their existence a secret, to the point that they’d considered killing poor Douglas Campbell, at least until he had impressed Quade enough to let him at least consider allying with him.
“We’re here. And it looks like we’re in time,” Remus said as he stepped out from among the trees to the edge of the ridge.
“And what is -? Oh.” Tiberius stared. The night sky was awash with colours. Bands of green moved, like a dance, the edges shimmering in shades of blue and pink. “Aurora borealis,” he breathed. He’d seen pictures of it before, but he’d never thought he’d get to see it for himself.
“Curran told me they have them here sometimes,” Remus said softly. “And then Jamie said that tonight we’d be able to see it.”
“Thank you. For bringing me along.”
Remus shrugged. “I wanted to share it with you.”
Tiberius glanced at him briefly, but Remus was looking at the lights. Tiberius looked back up again as well. There would be time later to ask Remus again. For now, they could enjoy this spectacular view.
