“Do you have my bath ready, Merlin?” Arthur called over from his desk.
“Almost, sire. Just a few more minutes.”
“If you need even a little longer I won’t need the bath anymore.”
Merlin looked up. “What do you mean? Will you have melted? I’m not cleaning that up.”
Arthur rolled his eyes. “Look outside, Merlin.”
Merlin lifted his head and looked outside. The heaven was filled with dark clouds. “It looks like it’s gonna rain.”
“More than just rain. This could cause a thunderstorm.”
“It might lift the awful humidity,” Merlin said hopefully. “I can’t bear this anymore.”
Arthur raised an eyebrow. “Try wearing full armor with this weather then you can complain.”
“Well, I’m not a knight. Just a humble servant.”
“Not a very good one. You need ages for a simple bath.”
“I’m making it perfect,” Merlin said and added some oils.
Arthur mumbled something incoherent and then turned his attention back to his papers. If Merlin needed a little longer, he could still work at that time, though he really wanted to get out of these sweaty clothes.
Just when Merlin announced that his bath was ready, there was a huge thunder outside. And soon after that the rain came down. Arthur looked out of the window. “So should I take your bath or just go outside?” he asked with a little grin.
“You can go outside if you want. I’ll take the bath then,” Merlin answered with a matching grin.
“Don’t you dare, Merlin. This bath is made for a king.” Arthur stood up and went over to the bath tub. He let Merlin help him get out of his clothes.
“I will take the bath of the peasants later, going out into the rain.” Merlin was actually looking forward to that.
Arthur stepped into the bath and shrieked. “This is boiling hot!”
“Just like you like it, sire.”
“Not on a hot summer day!” Arthur shouted and looked for something that he could throw at Merlin.
“Now the rain doesn’t sound so bad, does it?” Merlin asked with a grin. He dodged the belt that Arthur had thrown at him and made his way outside as quickly as possible.
“Merlin!” was all he heard when he had rushed out of the king’s chambers.
