Im selben Universum wie A Small Family Matter

“Charlie, do you want to come with me again?” Arhtur asked. He felt a bit guilty for the subterfuge, but he thought his children deserved to know their family. He could not understand what Molly’s issue with her grandfather or her uncle Ignatius was. She even named Percy after Ignatius, but something had changed since then. Perhaps it was the grief over Fabian’s and Gideon’s deaths at the hands of Death Eaters, but that was not Ignatius’ or Edmond’s fault. They and Lucretia had made it clear that they did not support the Dark Lord, had supported proposals from him and his department. So what if they were part of the Neutral faction? It wasn’t as if being Light made one more righteous. Just look at Crouch and Bagnold, throwing poor Sirius into Azkaban without proof or trial!

“Yes!” Charlie cheered. “I’ll grab my bag.” He dodged around the twins and hurried up the stairs to his room.

Arthur was happy to see that he was so eager to resume his visits, now that he was home for the winter holidays.

Charlie soon came back downstairs, though more slowly. He seemed distracted.

“Charlie? Have you changed your mind?”

“No. It’s just... Can Percy come as well? I... I think he’d enjoy it.”

He considered it. He had planned to wait until the children were 11 before taking them to meet Edmond, Ignatius and Lucretia. At Hogwarts, they would also be exposed to people with different backgrounds and opinions, so they could talk to wix with Neutral leanings under his or his uncle’s supervision outside of Hogwarts as well. Percy was not 11 yet, but he was also very thoughtful and studious than the others. “I’ll ask him.”

He went upstairs to Percy’s room, where he often stayed. The door was open – Molly insisted – and Percy was sitting on his bed with a book, his pillows pressed to his ears, to block out the noise from downstairs. Oh, that explained Charlie’s question. “Percy, I’m taking Charlie with me today. Would you like to come?”

“You can bring your book,” Charlie added, peaking around his father. He pulled a book on dragons out of his bag to show Percy.

“I can also cast a muffling charm on your room, if you’d rather stay home,” Arthur offered.

Percy looked torn. “Can... can I come today and get a muffling charm next time, if I don’t like it?”

“Of course. And you can always ask me for a muffling charm, no matter if it’s a day I can take you and Charlie with me or not.” He felt bad that he hadn’t offered before.

“Want me to put your book in my bag?”, Charlie offered.

Percy nodded and passed it to him. “Thank you.”

“I’ll just let your mother know, then we can go.”

Arthur led them to his office, introducing Percy to his colleagues on the way. He got them settled in two armchairs with their books, then addressed Percy. “Now, Percy, I get visitors sometimes. When it’s for work, I might have to cast a silencing ward around you two for a moment. But I also get other visitors, like your Grandfather Edmond or your granduncle Ignatius. They... had a fight with your mother, so they visit her until they make up.” Or until Molly saw reason and stopped refusing contact with ‘that kind of people’.

“We don’t tell Mom, so she doesn’t think we’re taking sides,” Charlie added.

Percy tilted his head, nose wrinkling. “Like when Ron said we were taking Fred and George’s side when we didn’t agree that the Chudley Cannons are the best?”

“Uh huh.” Charlie nodded.

“Okay.”

The morning passed pleasantly enough. The two boys were happily reading their books. They peaked at him sometimes, especially when his colleagues visited, but they were well-behaved.

It was almost lunch time when there was another knock and Edmond and Ignatius stepped in.

“Grandpa! Uncle Ignatius!” Charlie cheered. He jumped and rushed to greet them.

“Hello, Charlie. How are you? How are you liking your second year at Hogwarts?” Edmond asked.

Arthur went to Percy and offered him his hand. “Do you want to meet them?”

Percy clutched his book to his chest. He watched a moment longer how Charlie was cheerfully chattering at them, then nodded.

Arthur held his hand as they went to join the others. “Edmond, Ignatius, this is my third son, Percy. Percy, these are your Grandfather Edmond and your Grand-uncle Ignatius.”

“Hello, Percy.”

“Hello.” He waved shyly. Percy worried his lower lip between his teeth, then said: “My name is Ignatius as well. Percy Ignatius.”

Arthur could see the pain briefly in Ignatius’ eyes. He had been over the moon when he had first met Percy as a baby and had learned, that he was named after him.

And then Molly had refused to let them visit.

He could see Ignatius rally. “Really?”

Percy nodded.

“What are you reading there?” Edmond asked kindly.

Percy showed him. Arthur hadn’t looked before, but now he saw that it was a children’s book on transfiguration, not a story book for children, as he had thought.

“Do you enjoy it?” Ignatius asked.

Percy nodded eagerly. “I really, really do. I can’t wait to go to Hogwarts and learn how to do it myself.”

“When will you go to Hogwarts?” Ignatius asked.

“Another two years.” Percy was pouting slightly at what had to seem like an eternity to him.

“We were hoping to invite you for lunch,” Edmond said, while Ignatius kept talking to Percy.

Charlie gasped. “Can we, Dad?”

“Why not.”

Arthur brought Charlie and Percy along most days during the holidays. The other Prewetts couldn’t always come, but both boys enjoyed time with him in his office and the occasional visit to the Alley, either with him or his older brother Bilius.

It was already January, when Charlie put his book aside and came to his desk. “School is starting again soon.”

“Yes?” Arthur wondered where he was going with that.

“Perhaps you could still bring Percy with you sometimes when I’m back at school? I think he’d enjoy that.”

Arthur regarded Percy. His son was so much more relaxed and happy since he’d started bringing him. It was only now that he realized how stressed the constant bustle and noise of the Burrow had made his boy. He’d even started playing with his younger brothers again since he got to come with him and Charlie sometimes. “I will keep asking him,” he promised.

“Dad?” Percy asked hesitantly as Arthur started packing up for the day. He had gone on another visit to Flourish and Blotts today with Bilius, Ignatius and Lucretia and had seemed very happy when they’d brought him back, but now he seemed nervous.

“Yes?” He put everything down, giving Percy his full attention.

“I... I’m not sure if I will sort Gryffindor,” said Percy quietly. In an even softer voice, he added: “I’m not sure I’d be comfortable in Gryffindor.”

“Well, I figure you’ll also make a good Ravenclaw.” As studious and eager to read and learn as he was, he would be more surprised if he didn’t sort Ravenclaw.

“And... and you don’t mind?”

“Of course not.” Where’d he even got the idea? “I’ll be proud of you, no matter where you sort.”
