Harry smiled to himself as he made his way to the atrium of the Ministry and the floos there. They had been let go early for the week-end since one of their instructors at the Auror Academy was in St. Mungos after a training accident. Harry was hoping to surprise Ginny, see if perhaps she wanted to go out for dinner or perhaps away for the weekend. He waved off Ron, who looked like he wanted to ask again about him coming to the Burrow or going for drinks with the other trainees today instead. Harry slipped his hand into his pocket and closed his fingers around the box he’d picked up at Gringotts a few weeks ago. The dwerger had been able to finally get his mother’s engagement ring to be released from the memorial the Ministry had turned the house in Godric’s Hollow into. He had been waiting for the perfect moment since then. Perhaps now he would finally be able to create that moment.
He stumbled out of the floo in Ginny’s flat, which she was sharing with one of her teammates from the Holyhead Harpies. “Ginny?” He listed for a response. Instead of a reply, however, he heard moaning. He flushed. Oh no, he did not want to overhear her room mate having sex! He glanced back at the floor but decided to wait in Ginny’s room instead. With the door closed, the ward should block the noise from the rest of the flat.
He slowed as he came closer and closer to Ginny’s room. The noise level was increasing. And didn’t one of the two voices sound familiar?
The voices (and probably the people involved) reached a climax, then there was just heavy breathing.
“You’re sure Potter doesn’t mind?” a male voice asked.
“What, having second thoughts?” Ginny asked.
He snorted. “You’re a great fuck, but not enough for me to want to duel Potter over.”
“Don’t worry, he won’t notice. And even if he did, he’s too desperate for a family to speak up or create drama.”
“In that case, how about another round?”
Harry stumbled back, hardly able to believe what he’d heard, then rushed out of the door, too agitated to be able to concentrate enough to floo or apparate. They had been dating since shortly after the final battle, they had been talking about marriage, and yet she was sleeping with someone else? She thought so little of him? He had thought she loved him!
And Ron! Did he know? Was that why he had tried so hard to prevent him from going to surprise Ginny? But if he knew, why hadn’t he told him the truth? Did his loyalty to his sister really trump their friendship, even in cases like this?
What about Hermione? Or the other Weasleys? Did any of them know or suspect?
Would he be able to tell if they were telling him the truth if he asked them?
