Challenge: Schachmatt
Fandom: Psych
Charaktere: Shawn Spencer, Burton Guster und ein anonymer Mörder

A/N: Ähhhhhh... Das ist plot- und sinnloser Quatsch, aber das Schachmatt wollte geschrieben aber nicht korrekturgelesen werden. Sorry, [livejournal.com profile] servena. :)

"--and so you killed her," Shawn explained cheerfully. "Checkmate, dude."

Checkmate, he said, only the game was Monopoly and their opponent didn't know the rules and also, yeah, was now pointing a gun at them. Because it was Thursday.

Gus had really wanted to establish Not being threatened Thursday. They'd almost made it two weeks.

"Very clever, Spencer. A little too clever, unfortunately." The man used his gun to gesticulate for Shawn and Gus to move towards the end of the pier. Obligingly, they shuffled backwards.

"Come on, the game is up already, the police knows. Killing us now will do nothing for you in court..."

"Shawn, he has killed three people already, do you really think he cares?" Gus hated being the reasonable one.

"What your friend said." The gun was pointed directly at Shawn's forehead and the cavalry was not even on their way because Shawn had insisted on not calling Jules and Lassiter because snooping around a bit couldn't possibly hurt them. Ironically, that hadn't even been his worst prediction this week. "It's a pity, really. I liked you, Spencer."

Of course, that had Shawn smiling brightly. "Awww!" He turned to Gus. "I told you we had a moment back then, didn't I?"

"You did, Shawn. You had a moment with a murderer."

"Come on, Gus, don't be the La Escalera card in Lotería! This is hardly the time to be so negative!"

"Oh, it absolutely is!" In fact, from where Gus was standing (at the end of a pier, half an hour outside of the city, in the dark, in front of a loaded gun) this looked like game over.

Their murderer-to-be seemed to agree with Gus. He cocked the gun at the same time that Shawn yelled "Go fish!" and then there was a splashing sound and a gun shot and a dull ache in Gus's stomach and then waves crashed over him.

...

When his head broke the surface, it was still dark but blue and red lights flashed above him and Lassiter was yelling at someone.

To his left, Shawn was spluttering but grinning like a mad man. "Gotta love Lassie's timing! You okay, Gus?"

"What the-- Did you just tackle me into the water?"

"I warned you, didn't I?"

"You just yelled Go fish!"

"Exactly."

Gus opened his mouth to protest that and then closed it again. They were treading water, not dead against all odds... Yeah. That worked. "Damn. I'm starving."

"We passed a seafood truck on our way here."

"You know that's right."

Und jetzt darfst du dir ein Fandom wünschen, I guess. (Dammit.)
