Today was not a good Saturday. Gwil had been working at the grocery store and was supposed to do some work for college. And tonight was date night. But during his shift he already felt a bit lightheaded, almost sorted more than one product to the wrong shelf and gave a customer the wrong direction to something they looked for. When he could leave he felt like lying down and sleeping for a few hours. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t neglect his studies but he also didn’t want to disappoint his boyfriends. So he returned home, prepared himself a big cup of strong coffee and retreated to his room to work on his project which had to be done by Tuesday. He could barely concentrate on the painting he had to do, but he pushed through. He wanted to stay the night at his boyfriends’ and not leave early in the morning.
When it was time to get ready he had not quite gotten as far as he had planned but it had to be enough. When he pulled an all-nighter on Sunday he could still manage to deliver an acceptable project.
As punctual as always, he arrived at Fynn’s and Arvid’s house and used the key they had given him two weeks ago. He rubbed his face to get rid of the sleepiness.
He pulled off his shoes and walked across the hallway to the living room from where he could hear the TV running.
“Hey guys,” he said and smiled when he looked to his left where the large couch stood and both his beloved men were sitting and playing a video game together.
“Gwil!” Fynn instantly got up and ran up to him. Gwil already prepared himself to catch the smaller man, and hoped they wouldn’t fall. But Fynn stopped before he could jump into Gwil’s arms. “Gwil? Are you okay?'' he asked, suddenly looking concerned.
“Yeah. I’m fine. Where do you want to eat?” That was their plan after all, even though Gwil didn’t feel hungry at all.
But now Arvid had also gotten up from the couch and took him in. “I’d propose we stay here and you should try to get some rest.”
“I’m fine, really! We can go out.”
“Love, look at me.” Arvid’s voice was soft but his expression told Gwil he would not accept a no. So he obeyed. The slightly smaller man looked at his eyes, gently placed his hand on Gwil’s forehead and then let it glide deeper in a caress over his cheek. “We will stay home and order takeout. You are in no shape to go out.”
“I’m…” Gwil noticed how Fynn took his hand and held it gently.
“No, love, you are not fine. You’re burning and I…” Arvid looked at Fynn, then back to Gwil “... we will not let you exhaust you any further. We can go out any other weekend. Your health is more important than any dinner.”
Arvid let go of him and Fynn pulled on his hand to guide him to the couch. Gwil still wanted to protest but was met with two worried faces of the people he loved so much, more than anything, so he began to move.
“We can go on playing Kingdom Hearts,” Fynn proposed, “so you just have to watch. Or we can see if we find a movie on TV. I also like calm dates.”
“Really?”
“Yes. Lie down and let Fynn cuddle you. What do you feel like eating?”
Gwil closed his eyes. “I’m not really hungry…”
Another worried look between Fynn and Arvid as Fynn sat down on the couch and opened his arms for Gwil. “Okay. Then we’ll order Pizza. You want your usual? We will eat what you don’t”
Gwil nodded, sat down as well and let Fynn embrace him. He didn’t really notice how Arvid left the room to order their food. Fynn’s fingers in his hair and on his back made him relax and it only took mere minutes until he was asleep, his body demanding the rest it needed. And this close to one of his loved ones, he felt just safe and comfortable.
