When Keith looked at the costumes for the first time he gulped. "Wow... and I thought the rehearsal costumes were ugly...," he murmured as he scanned trough everything absentmindedly petting Kosmo's head. He and Theresa, his co-worker, were in the tailor's workshop and waited for Ursa, their boss, to show up and show them the costumes. It was Monday and the first rehearsal with the original costumes for the new play which would premiere on Friday.
"Look, this is for Shiro." Theresa said and showed Keith pink plastic which was supposed to be a rain jacket.
"Oh my...I didn’t believe Shiro when he said the original was even worse than the animal print he had for the rehearsals but he was right..."
The door opened and Livia, the third dresser entered. "Hello you two! Ursa isn't here, yet?"
"I am. Good evening everyone. Nice to see you," Ursa entered the room with a stack of papers. "So, come around the table please, so we can talk through the costumes. Perhaps we will only need two of you. We'll see how things go with Shiro." Due to his disability, a work accident which cost Shiro his arm, he had Keith as kind of a personal dresser. Ursa smiled at Keith and handed out the costume list. Then she started to explain each costume to the three so that they had a first glimpse at the amount of work which laid before them. It didn't seem too much but there were a few costume changes. They had to see if it worked. Of course Keith could not help two actors at the same time.
When they were done, they brought the costumes to the stage and the ones on top of the list to the dressing rooms. "So, Kosmo, you will stay here for the moment. Be nice." he said to the dog in Shiro’s dressing room. He couldn't need the dog around when he was about to learn how the new play worked. He hung the costume on the rack to Shiro’s name and went to get the next batch of clothes which came on a portable rack at the stage. Keith hated these “All with all” rehearsals. He had seen a few rehearsals before because Shiro had requested his help so he was better off than his co-workers but nevertheless to see everything on the main stage was a different thing.
When they were done they had to wait for the actors. "Say... what's between you and Shiro?" Theresa asked when they sat down.
Keith gulped "What do you mean?"
"I've seen you yesterday." she grinned. "Holding hands."
"Well... we're not 100% sure what it is..." but Keith liked the direction into which their relationship went. Shiro was a great person. "But it's nice"
"Okay?"
"Well... when we practiced his text he happened to kiss me... And I don't mind it becoming more".
"I see. Well... workplace relationships can become tricky."
"Why? Because I get paid to undress him?" Keith grinned.
Theresa chuckled, when they both heard the door from the staircase. "Perhaps."
"Good evening!" Shiro greeted them in a good mood.
"Hey." Keith said.
"Do you believe me now that the rain jacket is hideous?" Shiro asked directly.
"Yep. You were right. Where do you need it?"
"At the stage. Come I'll show you."
Keith took the hand Shiro had held out for him and didn't let it go when they went to the rack with Shiro's costumes.
