Crack - Poesiealbum
Jul. 3rd, 2019 07:04 pmTeam: Schwarz
Challenge: Crack/Humor: Poesiealbum [fürs Team]
Fandom: Heroes of Olympus, Pokémon (GO)
Charaktere: Nico di Angelo, Will Solace, Percy Jackson
Wörter: ~ 1000
A/N: Ähm.
“I don’t know how you do it.” Nico sighed heavily and Will who was perched in the grass, trying to convince a freshly hatched Larvitar to accept nectar from a dripper, looked up curiously.
“Do what?”
“Everything. Be…” There was no good way to phrase this, Nico supposed. Instead, he gesticulated awkwardly at Will and his orange shorts and his Chansey. “Be you.”
Will snorted. “Charming.”
“Not like…” Not like that. Only, exactly like that, probably. With a frustrated huff, Nico let himself fall backwards onto the lawn behind the Rehabilitation Center and pointedly ignored the indignant “Marowaaak” that earned him from Jules-Albert. Its recent evolution had done wonders for its confidence and for its condescension towards Nico’s life choices. Not that it wasn't justified. “Sorry. I didn’t mean it like that.”
Will’s freckled face appeared above him and the intensity of his scowl almost matched that of Jules-Albert's. “Oh, you meant it exactly like that.”
Nico closed his eyes, pretending that not seeing his team mate would help in not caring. It didn’t work.
“Chan?” Will's Chansey gently nudged his knee. “Chansey?”
“I’m fine, Chansey.” Nico sighed, at the same time as Will answered: “He’s fine, Fairycakes. Just an asshole.”
Reluctantly, Nico opened his eyes again. Will had vanished from his field of view and when Nico turned around, he was back to fussing over the Larvitar which now was licking the dropper enthusiastically. “I’m sorry, Will. And I do mean it like that, only… not in a bad way?”
“Sounds like a question.”
“It is.” He sighed. Again. “Look this is…”
Will threw him a quick glance. “You got your hopes back up,” he determined. “In Alola.”
Nico swallowed. Alola was not where he wanted his mind to go right now. White beaches, fresh fruit, Percy’s blindingly wide smile. Percy’s perpetually unbuttoned Alolan shirt. “I did not get my hopes up, I don’t hope for anything!”
“Marowak.”
“Shut up, Jules-Albert.”
“I'm with Jules on this one...”
“Look, Will, it’s just not as easy for me as it is for you!”
Will’s smile was… well, a lot of things, probably. Inscrutable for one. “Yeah, being gay just comes naturally to some of us. I’ve been born that way, actually, I see how that would make things easier for me.” His tone, however, was caustic.
Sometimes, Nico considered himself special for being able to bring that out in the famously friendly breeder. Sometimes.
“I’m not…”
“Oh, fuck you, di Angelo. - Fairycakes, would you take Larvitar back to the nursery and have it registered? Thank you.” Only after both pokémon were well on their way to the compound, Larvitar hopping alongside the Chansey, Will turned back to Nico.
“Forget I said anything, Will, I'm...” He trailed off as Will’s soft smile reserved for pokémon under his care morphed back into a scowl. A scowl that was likely reserved just for Nico.
"You're an idiot, di Angelo.”
Jules-Albert, the traitor, snuggled up to Will’s side and cackled happily when Will gently ruffled the hair on its neck. Jules-Albert never let other trainers touch it.
“I know.”
“It’s really not that big a deal.”
Will was probably right about that. The gossip papers had not exactly focussed on the gay part when their team leader had been caught on tape making out with a male gym leader. But that had been Spark. And Will was Will and Nico was only Nico.
“In the end, it’s just… what it is. Love. Life. Instinct.”
“Did you really just say that? That’s so beautiful, I might throw up. Can you write that in my autograph book?”
Will perked up immediately. “You have an autograph book?”
“I’m obviously joking.”
A huff. “What I was trying to say: You should trust your instincts. - You’re literally part of a team based around that philosophy.”
The irony wasn’t lost on Nico.
“Have I ever told you why I joined Team Instinct in the first place?”
Will shook his head. “Not because you always wanted to work at a pokémon sanctuary, I gather?”
“Because of Percy. When Percy signed up for Instinct, I just… followed him.” Like a Poochyena puppy. Nico closed his eyes again. He had never told anyone before and now he remembered why. He felt stupid.
Will chuckled. “So, you made a life-altering decision based on… instinct?”
“Fuck you, Solace.” He couldn’t muster enough energy to sound angry.
“Oh come on!” Some ruffling and a soft cackle from Jules-Albert indicated that Will had laid down beside him. “I for one joined because I had the biggest crush on Spark.”
“Really?! - You’re both so blond and smiley and dopey... You would have made for an awful couple...”
Will chuckled. “Well, by that logic, you and I wou-Umpf!”
The something that had interrupted Will so violently turned out to be a massive Houndoom. A massive Houndoom that currently tried to cover Nico’s face in slightly sulfuric saliva, one paw still firmly placed on Will’s stomach.
“Mrs. O’Leary, leave them be!” Percy Jackson followed hot on its heels. “Sorry about that, guys, she’s just so happy to see you, Nico.” The Houndoom howled in agreement before turning away to slobber over Jules-Albert.
“Uff.” Will sat back up, a hand on his stomach. “Haven’t you guys returned from your assignment in Alola just today? That Houndoom must adore you, Nico.”
“Oh she does!” Percy was all smiles, sun-kissed skin and dimples. Nico’s life sucked. “Alola was awesome, though. Have you ever been, Solace? We need to go surfing there! And look who I caught!” With a flick of his hand that Nico shouldn’t have paid attention to at all, Percy threw a pokéball.
“An Alolan Raichu?! Dude, that’s awesome!”
“I know, right?! Has Nico introduced you to his Rattata yet?”
Will turned around slowly. “You caught a Rattata?”
Percy laughed. “He said it and your Ratface could be great friends.”
“Did you, now?”
Will’s smile was absolutely inscrutable but much more pleasant than the scowl, so Nico shrugged. “You are the only one I know who actually kept a Rattata. And Ratface is still an awful name. That’s pokémon abuse.”
“Hear that, Jules-Albert?”
“Oh, fuck you, Solace.”
