Team: Mond
Challenge: Romantik – Verstehen ohne Worte – fürs Team
Fandom: RPS, Bai Yu/Zhu Yi Long, zwei chinesische Schauspieler
Titel: Sea of words
Story is in English!

Sea of words

It is in inevitable that Yilong is drawn to Yu after just a few days in his vicinity. They are the backbone of a well promoted, rather expensive show, Yu is determined to be friends and Yilong is at least willing to be very polite. Yu is easy, loud and outgoing and every other thing that Yilong isn't and he can tag along in his shadow, mingling with his new colleagues without giving away too much of himself.

Yu smiles at him, talks with him and he doesn't expect an answer every time, which is very refreshing and more considerate than Yilong would have expected from this childish blabbermouth. He is nice to him and after a wonky start they find their perfect work dynamic.

Yilong will read and talk them through an entire scene, Yu will nod eagerly and say "Ok!" - and then he will go and do something completely different, forcing Yilong to improvise and only ever to react to his brilliant wild ideas. His Shen Wei becomes even quieter and shyer than he intended because Yilong has his shields up all the time now. He needs time for his characters, they have their own paths in his brain but Yu just keeps running him over and over again.

He doesn't mind it though and the directors like it immensely. They adjust Yilong’s styling to make him even more fragile and elegant and harmless and the fans seem to eat it up - the more his Shen Wei gets hurt the better their ratings and Yu jokes around saying that they can keep filming forever, they just might have to throw Yilong into a volcano one day.

"Don't worry!" he hurries to add though, after everyone laughed but Yilong (who tried to think of a fitting plot where the professor might end up in a volcano and missed the social clues of the conversation again). "I will catch you!"
"How?" Yilong asks quietly and Yu blinks and smiles at him before he flexes his arm.

"I'm pretty strong!"

"Are you? I beat you in arm wrestling."

For a second Yu looks stunned and Yilong cringes because he once again ruined the mood. He meant it as a joke, his mind three steps ahead in the intricacies of a plot that would require a volcano and a dramatic rescue in the world of "Guardian".

He hangs his head, avoids Yu's glance but then there is a soft touch on his neck and shoulder forcing him to look up again.

Yu's gaze is deeply tender. "You are so wonderful," he says. "I have never met anyone like you and I promise if you ever fall into a volcano I am going to sprout wings and rescue you."

Yilong usually notices when he is being made fun of, but suddenly, in a wave of hot headed eagerness, he wants to believe every word Yu, the liar, says.

He smiles back, and pats the arm around his shoulders and Yu winks and orders them beer and noodles.

It is inevitable that he falls for him after that. The script and the filming sites push them together as close as possible and Yilong has hellishly long days, trying to not let his performance get buried under three different floor length costumes.

Yu becomes wilder, louder and more passionate as well. He is larger than life in some scenes and the directors sometimes have to reign him in, reminding him that there is a big finale coming so he can't let it all out just yet.

Yilong does not understand their criticism - he pours his everything into the scenes and they don't ask him to tone it down and he doesn't think that there is only a finite amount of feelings they are allowed to act out. If his cries and smiles in episode one aren't as powerful in episode eighteen then the script has to fill that gap with meaning, he thinks, but before he can utter a single word of this long and detailed defence, Yu giggles bashfully, shouts “Alright!” only to deliver the exact same sentences with the exact same feeling. He just moves a bit slower but his eyes are drilling holes into Yilong’s head just as they were before. He is not toning anything down and Yilong can barely hold his own.

“Yu” he says under his breath after the scene is over. It’s very much a sigh and he hastily covers it with a cough. Yu heard it anyway, nods and throws him a happy kiss.

It’s inevitable that they fall in bed with each other, or at least that’s what Yilong tells himself as he lets himself be kissed and dragged down into the sheets. Yu is heavy on top of him, powerful in his kisses and Yilong is ready to be swept away.

Yu stills for a second, resting his forehead against Yilong’s and smiling softly. “If I’m too fast tell me, alright?”

“I think you will notice yourself if you are too fast,” Yilong says and touches Yu’s hair. He is teasing him, of course he is and Yu snorts and hides his face in Yilong’s shoulder. “Fuck!” he says. The word shakes Yilong to the core although they have traded worse insults before (although never in a situation as close and extreme as this). “You are so amazing. And handsome, have I mentioned that?”

Yilong frowns and thinks back on their day. “You mentioned it twice in that interview today,” he says after a while. Yu nods, as if he had been listening and maybe he was, but he also somehow managed to get rid of his own shirt and Yilong’s as well.

“You are brilliant,” he tells him and Yilong never wanted anyone as much as he wanted Yu. “I am going to kiss you.”

“That... that would be nice.”

“I sure hope so!”

It’s inevitable that they lose contact after the filming ends and before their interview tour starts. They haven’t talked about anything, but one day Yu is on his way to Changsha for another screen test and all that is left is a message in their chat: ‘See you soon, monkey boy. ;)”

Yilong is busy as well, but he comes home and settles down comfortably in the silence that he always misses on film sets. His energy renews after a few quiet nights in his flat, where he avoids the internet and his phone as much as possible, but as soon as he isn’t running on fumes anymore, he starts crying when he thinks of Yu.

He could write him, but Yilong doesn’t know what to say. “I miss you” would be ridiculous; theirs was a temporary affair, mangled confusing feelings that exploded in their mouths because of the scenes they had to act out. They were portraying a loving couple in all but kisses and Yilong has heard of things like this happening, of co-stars just dating for a couple of weeks after their shows until the next project tears them apart and the feelings vanish into thin air.

He wonders how people stand the pain though as he has never been this heartbroken.

That was inevitable as well, he finally decides.

Yu calls him later that night, asks him why he is crying so much and when he finally gets Yilong to spit it out, he laughs. “Don’t you think you would notice if I broke up with you?”

“I sometimes don’t understand you,” Yilong brings out timidly. “You are too fast for me.”

Yu sighs. “I will always wait for you to catch up, monkey boy.” The nickname is stupid, but Yilong finds himself laughing between sobs. “I am going to be back in a few days. Don’t break up with me!”

“I won’t” Yilong agrees. “I might, when you come back. Later. In person I mean. That would be fair.”

Yilong shuts his mouth and wonders once again why he always has to blurt out the most horrible things when they cross his mind. What is Yu supposed to say to that? He didn’t mean it like that he doesn’t want to break up, not again, not even once, not ever!

But Yu, as always, parts the sea of Yilong’s words and keeps on laughing fondly.

“Sure, monkey. Let’s do it later and only if we really want to.”

Yilong sighs and grips his phone tighter. Finally, he thinks.

Finally someone who understands.

... not me cause that would be stupid right :)) ::))

Yu's gaze is deeply tender. "You are so wonderful," he says. "I have never met anyone like you and I promise if you ever fall into a volcano I am going to sprout wings and rescue you."

Yu, the liar, mein Herz.

Yu giggles bashfully, shouts “Alright!” only to deliver the exact same sentences with the exact same feeling

Er hat diese ganze Serie in seinem Kopf fertig gedreht, Zhao Yunlan will be as loud and annoying and flirty and exaggerated as he wants him to be, thank you very much, now back to flirting with Yilong in three different roles :)

Yu heard it anyway, nods and throws him a happy kiss.

Three different roles and real life :)

Yilong frowns and thinks back on their day. “You mentioned it twice in that interview today,” he says after a while.

ICH STERBE, Yilong ist so ein Brötchen. NOW IS NOT THE TIME DAS WAR VIELLEICHT NICHT WIRKLICH EINE ERST GEMEINTE FRAGE OH MEIN GOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT, kein Wunder dass Yu so schlimm verknallt ist, anders kommt man da ja auch nicht weiter.

It’s inevitable that they lose contact after the filming ends and before their interview tour starts. [...] That was inevitable as well, he finally decides.

ICH WÜTE DEN BILDSCHIRM AN, warum ist er so blöd, warum hat er denn gar kein Vertrauen in sich und Yu und alles, WARUMMMMMMMMM why u gotta hurt us (and him) Kiwi, why u gotta be like that, why is it so delicious and wonderful :)))))

Finally someone who understands.

Am I sobbing? Yes.

“Sure, monkey. Let’s do it later and only if we really want to.” <3

AAAAAAH!
