A/N: Dieses Ding hat mich über Wochen wahnsinnig gemacht. Aber das hier ist jetzt die dritte Version und besser wird es sobald nicht, also… ARGH. Punkte. (Weltherrschaft!)

“They’re going to come for us. They’ll think of something.” Cam is not sure whether Sam’s mumbled words are meant to reassure him or her or whether they’re just there to distract him while she cleans out the nasty cut below his eye, but he doesn’t really care. They’ve had much worse.

They’ve probably had worse, he thinks after a few hours, after the cuts are cleaned, his arm is patched up, Sam’s leg is splinted and the mumbled reassurances have trickled out. Maybe. He has lost his canteen in the fall but Sam still has hers and the cavern they’re trapped in is almost large enough to sit up in. “It could be worse.”

Sam sighs. “You’re not supposed to say things like that…”

“I’m not supposed to say a lot of things. My grandma always used to…” Cam trails off, he can’t actually think of a vaguely related adage. Which is probably a bad sign.

Sam is quiet for a few moments, and when she speaks again, her voice is uncharacteristically soft, trepid even. “I’ve been meaning to ask…”

“Yeah?”

“I’m not supposed to ask,” she clarifies and something about her tone makes Cam think he should know where this is going, but he really doesn’t.

“Sam, I just peed while lying next to you, I think any question is fair game at this point.”

“Please don’t remind me.” There’s a smile in her voice, a smile he hasn’t heard in hours and it sends a warm shiver down his back. “Remember last week, when I picked up the phone in your office? The guy with the wrong number?”

Cam does, because Sam had given him a funny look at that explanation. He swallows. “Sure.”

“It wasn’t actually a wrong number, was it?”

“Nope.”

“He called you ‘babe’.” The smile is back in Sam’s voice. “Babe.

“Yeah. Easier to play off as a joke than most other nick names...”

She pats his back, a little awkwardly due to how close they are. “That’s awful. …So you guys have been together for a while?”

Cam closes his eyes. “Almost half a year.” He can’t fight a small smile at the thought. “Not actually that long, but it certainly feels like it, what with you know… everything.” It’s certainly the longest relationship he’s ever had. Which is probably sad. And only in part due to the fact that his employer heavily frowns on the kind of relationship he likes to have. The secrecy and the aliens don’t really make things easier.

“Oh, are you going steady, flyboy?” Sam actually manages to playfully shove her elbow into his side and winces only slightly at the contact. “What’s his name?”

“Lynn. -- Lyndon. He’s a high school science teacher, by the way.”

She whistles. “Oh, now I’ve got to meet him.”

“I want you to. Have for a while.” It’s true. He’s also wanted to tell Sam for a while now. It’s still kind of difficult to say, though, he doesn’t have a lot of practice. He told Fergie, before he died, which probably was a coward’s move. “Just… I couldn’t tell you.”

They fall quiet for a while. “There’s talk about changing the rules.”

“Yeah.” There has been for years. Cam is refusing to get his hopes up anymore. “So, how about you? How’s your love life going?”

She snorts. “Waiting for retirement. There’s no talk about changing the fraternization rules…”

Being beamed onto the Hammond’s bridge in the middle of that sentence isn’t the most awkward entrance they’ve had. Certainly not the most awkward they could have had, not even with Vala leering at them.

“Fraternization, hu?”

Cam groans, but Sam next to him is smiling brightly. “Oh, you know, Vala, what happens in collapsed caverns on P7X-592 stays in the collapsed caverns of P7X-592.”

“You are no fun at all.” Vala pouts and Cam drapes his good arm around Sam’s shoulders.

“Oh, I beg to differ. In fact, I think I’ll treat her to a nice home cooked dinner when we’re back home.”

Sam nudges her still bruised elbow into his side. “As long as it’s not you doing the cooking…”

“Wouldn’t dream of it!”

Vala rolls her eyes at them before turning back to the bridge crew. “Commander, just sent them back down, they’re obviously too far gone.”

.__. Ich weiß gar nicht, was ich zitieren soll, ich will alles zitieren...und jetzt muss Sam unbedingt den Highschool Teacher treffen!
