A/N: Ich hab keine Ahnung, was passiert ist. Die ursprüngliche Idee war ein bisschen abgefuckt und angsty, aber jetzt bin ich betrunken und das ist… was anderes. - Frohe Weihnachten!

It was eerily quiet when Oliver stumbled out of the club’s backdoor. For a second, he thought it was just the lack of thrumming bass lines and pulsing bodies surrounding him, but then he looked up and-“Oh wow.”

The redhead, Charlie or something, who had been busy crowding in on him, hands determinedly on their way to the fly of Oliver’s jeans, stopped dead in his tracks at that.

“Hu?”

Oliver didn’t know what to say, didn’t even dare to interrupt the silence again. Instead, he just pointed at the parking lot in front of them and the thick layer of fresh snow that covered it, obscuring cars and trash cans, smoothing out the edges of buildings and Oliver’s arousal.

A slow smile spread over the redhead’s face and gone were the urgency and harshness, replaced by pure, unadulterated joy. Oliver would have been offended but, yeah, he couldn’t exactly blame the guy, there was something oddly sobering about the pristine snow.

It felt like minutes had passed before Charlie, definitely Charlie, cleared his throat. “Care for a walk?”

“Are you fucking serious?” Reluctantly, Oliver looked away from the snow and at his companion who shrugged awkwardly. Oliver had half a mind to head back into the club and find himself a guy without a sentimental streak, but instead he just rolled his eyes. “Yeah, sure, I guess. Should have brought a scarf though, it’s bloody freezing.”

Charlie huffed out a laugh and slipped off his very stylish, very metrosexual scarf to throw it around Oliver’s neck. With a decidedly lewd smile playing around his lips, he seized the opportunity to pull Oliver in with it and… kiss him on the nose.

And Oliver just smiled.

“Thanks.”

Charlie tucked his arm into Oliver’s in a fluid motion that was simultaneously comfortingly intimate and disturbingly domestic. “Consider it a Christmas present.”

The snow scrunched beneath their feet and Oliver tried desperately not to focus on how that just accentuated the silence. London at 3 in the morning wasn’t supposed to be quiet and calm and… He cleared his throat. “Well, I do appreciate practical gifts. A scarf and self respect have been on my Christmas list for years.”

“Self respect?”

“Obviously. – It’s just a few days to Christmas and I’m spending it at gay clubs, hooking up with strangers... Not to rain on your parade, but that’s not exactly how I pictured my thirties to look like.”

“If you put it like that…” Charlie bumped his shoulder into his. “You could always come along to Devon, visit my family.”

Oliver snorted. “I might be pulling-strangers-at-seedy-clubs-desperate but not quite arm-candy-for-family-Christmas-desperate, sorry.”

Charlie shrugged, turning left into a deserted alleyway lined with half-heartedly decorated shop windows. “Oh, no, not that kind of story, you’d be friend-from-work-tagging-along-for-family-Christmas-to-fool-around-behind-the-tool-shed-desperate.”

The most depressing thing about that statement was probably the way Charlie actually managed to sound genuinely amused about it. Oliver would have laughed, only… “Are you taking the piss?”

“Absolutely.”

“Wanker.”

Charlie bumped into his shoulder again. “Well, it’s up to you to change that.” He lowered his voice at that suggestively as he was supposed to, but there was no heat behind it and Oliver just blew him a kiss. That earned him an almost childlike chuckle and he couldn’t help the smile spreading on his lips. The scarf smelled faintly of cologne and the snow scrunched under their feet and for an evening that rightfully should have ended in him getting laid, well, this actually wasn’t the worst.
