A love in Edo (Für mich)

Challenge: Historisches Setting: Gesellschaftliche Ächtung/Angst davor
Fandom: Fesseln des Verrats
Charaktere: Shuusei, Yuki (Mentions of Hotsuma)
Jahrhundert relevant.

A love in Edo
Shuusei looked out of the window of the Giou’s main property in Kamakura and didn’t look very happy. It was not that she was unhappy that she was supposed to marry her partner, not at all. But what if Takashiro decided to have them divorced one day because of what she felt?
“Shuusei? Are you okay?” The soft voice of God’s Light interrupted her thoughts.
She looked up and turned around. “I’m fine!” No one was supposed to see her like this. No one was supposed to know that she had doubts.
“You don’t look fine.” Yuki smiled gently and sat down next to her. “Is it about Takashiro-sama’s announcement?”
Shuusei pressed her lips together. Then she nodded.
“But he’s your partner. It will work out. You know each other and he will always treat you well.”
“I know… Other women are worse-off with their husbands.” Shuusei looked up at the other girl. So gentle, so bright! Since her partner was not very fond of God’s Light the two girls didn’t interact very often but Shuusei didn’t know who else she could talk to about this topic. It was… a bit delicate at best.
“Then what are you worrying about?” Yuki asked and placed a hand on Shuusei’s shoulder.
“About what society thinks…” Shuusei replied and looked out of the window again. “Have you seen him?”
“He’s happy! He’s telling everyone who doesn’t want to hear it that he’s a very lucky guy who is allowed to marry the most beautiful girl in Japan. And he’s not wrong.” Yuki smiled at Shuusei. “So why is it a problem of you two marrying?”
“I… Yuki-sama, I love him. Much more than I’m supposed to feel as his Zweilt partner. God, what if anyone notices? You know it’s scandalous! They will throw us out of the clan! You know as well as me that a married couple is not supposed to love each other! A wife has the sole purpose to give birth to an heir. And that’s what Takashiro-sama wants…”
“Don’t you want children?” Yuki asked.
“I want to give birth to his children. More than anything. I want to be close to him.”
“Then it’s fine. Stop caring about what society says and expects. If you want to be with him it’s fine. Love him. Let him love you if that’s what he feels. You are Zweilts so you are supposed to be close. No one needs to know what else you feel beyond that connection. You’ve always been together so it would be strange if you distanced yourself from him just because you got married.”
“But… what if Takashiro-sama exiles us from the clan if he finds out?” Shuusei asked despaired.
“He will not exile a Zweilt pair. We need you.” Yuki smiled at her. “All of you. There are so few of you left. Even if he finds out, he will forgive you. He just hopes your children will be able to become Zweilts as well. We need to win the war with Reiga; that’s more important than such a tiny scandal. There are many men out there who fall in love with their wives. So why shouldn’t you be allowed to love each other as well? Don’t worry so much and be happy that you are allowed to be with a man who will cherish you and protect you until the day you will no longer be reborn.”
Shuusei looked at God’s Light and then she nodded. She couldn’t waste her short life with worrying. She was supposed to marry a wonderful young man and hopefully have his children. And that was a good thing. So she bowed deeply in front of Yuki and smiled. “You’re right. Thank you, Yuki-sama, for your kind words.”
Yuki smiled and got up. “Just be happy. That’s all I want,” she said and turned around, not fast enough to hide a pained expression. Of course. God’s Light was lonely, too. She didn’t have anyone so close to her. Shuusei wished from the bottom of her heart that Yuki as well would soon find someone to love her on a level the Zweilts couldn’t.

Aber Yukis Einsamkeit... das hat mein Herz ein klein wenig zum knacken gebracht ;_;
