“This can only happen to you, right?” McCoy reached for Jim’s arm cautiously. “No high tech, no way back to the ship and you slip on the snow and break your arm.”
“Could have happened to you, too.” Jim mumbled, trying not to show how hurt he was, but pulling his arm closer to his chest, as if he could protect it like that.
McCoy didn’t try to touch the arm, he directly saw that it was broken. No use to poke at it and cause Jim more pain. Instead he stood up and looked around. “You know, my father once taught me to use the stuff that you have around.” He walked between the trees, shoved aside some of the snow with his foot, until he found what he was looking for. With two small branches he went back to Jim. Now he just needed something to wrap around it. Knowing that he wouldn’t find something suitable in the woods around him, he pulled off his survival jacket and ripped off the sleeve of his blue science shirt. “If you don’t have the tech you need to help yourself with other stuff.” He stabilized Jim’s arm with the two branches that he wrapped around the broken bones.
“I knew it was a good choice to convince you to be my CMO.” Jim showed him a wide grin.
McCoy raised a brow. “Because I know some old school medicine?”
“Because I know you would do anything to help someone.”
McCoy stared at Jim for at least a minute before clearing his throat. “How does your arm feel now?”
“Better,” Jim answered, looking at McCoy just as intensely. “Let’s get moving.” With a little help from McCoy Jim got up and they resumed their hiking through the snowy woods back to their shuttle.
“I’m glad that I decided to follow you into space,” McCoy whispered after a while.
Jim slowed his pace and watched his friend carefully. “Why? Because you’d be bored out of your mind without me?”
McCoy chuckled and shook his head. “Because I’d do anything to help you.”

._. Ich maaag das Ende! Bonding!!! *-*
